“Belen” Nativity scene – acrylic on A4 paper by Paul Ledesma

Paul is a British-Filipino painter, whose work can be described as abstraction in self-taught art, influenced by abstract impressionists and colour field painters of the early 1900s.

His recent series of paintings will greet visitors with a warm blast of colours that conjures memories of the cities he has travelled to before the lockdown, providing an escape from reality for a brief point in time.

Clipper Race to restart in 2022 as it receives special event permit from the Philippines

It has been announced that the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race will be resuming its 2019-20 edition in March 2022 after receiving a Special Event Permit from the Philippines. After sailing halfway around the world, the sailing event was suspended 18 months ago in Subic Bay, Philippines, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. With this new permission, Clipper Race organisers and Race Crew can return to the country to restart the race.

Following the announcement of the Clipper Race being granted a Special Event Permit, Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, Philippines Department of Tourism said:

“The upcoming Clipper Race in Subic Bay is a big market confidence booster for the Philippines as we prepare for our country’s reopening to international leisure travellers. The event will also benefit a number of sectors within our tourism industry, including our hotels, with the requirement of approximately 3,000 room nights, along with transport and yacht provisions for the crew.”
